When the winterising season for your outdoor pool begins it’s important to treat the water so next season can start smoothly. To do this we recommend:
Planet Pool Winterising Agent is an effective, high-quality product. It is phosphate-free and cuts down the spring cleaning, provided you uses the correct dosage. The winterising agent works by stopping the crystallisation of mineral salts, which means the formation of scale rings is considerably reduced. The growth of resistant species of algae as well as germ and bacteria accumulation in joints, corners and along edges is halted or considerably minimised.
How to use: After the summer season has finished and there is still chlorine in your pool wait another few days. After lowering the water level to below the pool fixtures add the winterising agent according to the hardness of your water.
In early spring, so a few weeks before you clean your pool, add half the autumn dose again. This will save you a lot of cleaning work when you let out the old water to carry out your spring clean.
If the winter months are unusually warm this can stimulate algae growth which, in turn, uses up some of the winterising agent. Our tests have also shown that pools which are not covered during the winter have nearly half their content replaced by snow and rain. So in these special cases, after having a look at your pool, you may need to add more winterising agent.
If you still have some opened winterising agent left at the start of the new season you can put it to very good use in your pool as a strong algicide. The Planet Pool range has been specially developed to be multi-purpose in these cases.
